Last weekend June 27th - 29th, the American Street Car Series brought the Peach State Challenge to the Atlanta Motor Speedway for 3 days of Autocrossing excitement. The course we had designed out was both long and fast with some technical pieces thrown in the middle. Everyone in attendance claimed it was the most fun course they had been on with speeds reaching near 80 mph.
With over 50 cars registered, and running 3-4 cars on course at the same time, everyone had their fill of track time which left none wanting. Some of the top drivers were in attendance so some serious lap times were being layed down. We had some new folks as well so times ranged from 80 seconds to over 100 with smiles at the end of each one.
After 3 full days the results were in with BFG sweeping the top 5 times of the weekend. I was there running a black 66 Corvette with some of my old discarded Rivals from my 71 Camaro and ended up with the top time of the weekend of 80.6 seconds. This was 1.5 seconds faster than the next competitor and was even faster than the SCCA race vehicle running some exhibition laps on full slicks who managed a best time of 80.9 seconds.
The BFG Rival proved once again to be the tire to be on knocking out all competitors who challenge it. Thanks again to all the great folks at BFGoodrich and Michelin who work hard to bring us the very best.
